Our goal for Maine Quilts 2026 is to ensure your experience is a positive one. Keeping that in mind we have jotted down a few things we hope will help to achieve our goal and for you to give Maine Quilts a big thumbs up!
- The Augusta Civic Center is a large facility – very wide open for the most part. Some of the classrooms are totally enclosed and many are partitioned into 2 or more spaces. It is impossible to regulate temperatures from room to room or space to space. The AC is going full blast all week. For your comfort, please dress in layers and bring a jacket, sweater or shawl to class.
- The Augusta Civic Center does not allow food brought in from outside. Please do not ‘sneak’ your lunch in -if you are caught you will be asked to leave the building. There will be one concession stand open during the day – it will be located on the 1st floor. It is a small space. If you are taking a full day class you will have 2 hours between classes to eat, look at the quilts and shop. To save you time and aggravation of standing in a long line, we are offering BOX LUNCHES again this year – they must be pre-ordered. There are links to these products on the website.
- We strive to hire teachers who will teach workshops that are of interest to you. This year there are workshops that offer techniques perhaps you have always wanted to try but would have no idea what to bring to class. Those instructors will make kits specifically for you. It is payable to the instructor – in cash – at the time of the workshop. Kit Fee information is displayed on the workshop description as well as the supply sheets – in bold letters. The kit fee is non-negotiable.

- A word about irons in the classroom . . . did you know that your household or sewing room iron draws 1600-1800 watts? Any appliance that draws heat also draws a lot of power! The Augusta Civic Center is not equipped to handle so many irons going all at once! It will trip the circuit breakers and we will be without power at all! In past years we have supplied each classroom with at least one iron, sometimes two, but having to share it with 20 students makes for a lot of tension. We have found a solution. Please refer to the photo. These are the ONLY irons we will allow in classrooms on the 2nd level. Maine Quilts will supply a few to the classrooms but we don’t have enough for everyone. If you have one, you may bring it – you might also bring an ironing pad. We will distribute these to classrooms as needed. A huge THANK YOU to our generous sponsor Keepsakes Quilts for donating these irons to Maine Quilts!
- Please be respectful of the teacher and others – do not wear perfumes or scented hairspray and please turn off your cell phones during the class.
