Dating back to the late sixteenth century, Dorset buttons are a great way to embellish your quilting project and knitwear. Finish them as jewelry pieces if you wish. They are functional too!

Start the class by making the traditional Blandford cartwheel to learn the basics before discussing some variations, including a fan-style button and the Maltese Cross. Catherine will show you how to include beads and will finish the class with a look at styles inspired by vintage buttons of the 1950s.

Discover the magic of free-motion quilting. We will start with putting pens to paper to learn how to combine basic shapes to create a variety of interesting quilting designs. You will have the opportunity to try lots of different designs to find your personal favorites in this relaxed, no-criticism-allowed setting. In this class we will take the classic Hunter’s Star block and give it a new look. Both Starlit Pathways and Flashpoint start with the basic Hunter’s Star block but are modernized with their innovative settings. You may choose to make either pattern. Instruction will be provided for both since they require a Rapid Fire Hunter’s Star tool and a Tucker Trimmer I.

Starlit Pathways uses the Rapid Fire Hunter’s Star – Large tool along with the Tucker Trimmer I.  A Quilter’s Magic Wand and Invisigrip are recommended but not required for this pattern. The pattern has 3 sizes (81″ x 81″, 81″ x 109″, 109″ x 109″). Information to make a smaller (53″ x 53″) size will be provided in class.

Flashpoint use the Rapid Fire Hunter’s Star – Petite tool plus the Tucker Trimmer I. A Quilter’s Magic Wand, Invisigrip and a First Choice ruler are recommended but not required for this pattern. The pattern has 1 size (66″ x 66″). Information to make both a larger (94″ x 94″) and a smaller (38″ x 38″) size will be provided in class.

All supplies will be provided or you can bring two of your favorite fat quarters. With a colorful ribbon tie you will complete the apron by the end of class so you can wear it home!
