Description
In response to survey results and comments at PTQG Board and Members Meetings, September will feature an in-person workshop and NOT a Zoom workshop. This is an experiment to see if members appreciate this option.
The September workshop and technique demos will be held September 20, 2025, from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm at the University of Maine Cooperative Extension Office in Skowhegan (https://extension.umaine.edu/somerset/directions/). The featured speaker will be Kate Gawler who will conduct the workshop, Seeing Color. This workshop gives you a tool – the Tertiary Pairs Color Chart – to better understand how and why color combinations behave the way they do. This is not another color theory lecture, but a practical tool to help with all the color choices you have to make when sewing a quilt: fabrics, threads, layout, etc. Everyone gets a chart to take home and put on the wall of their sewing space. Samples will illustrate the concepts with real quilts. You’ll see the way colors work with each other in a whole new way.
Following Kate’s talk, a series of technique demonstrations will cover various topics. The fee for the workshop will be $20. The registration is limited to 20 participants. Come learn about color and other demonstration topics and have the chance to network in-person with other quilters. Coffee and tea will be served. Bring a bag lunch, if desired, and enjoy time with quilting friends.
