Bettina Havig

The May 2, 2026 PTQG Members’ Meeting will be held at Hope Church 728 Western Avenue in Manchester, Maine, beginning at 10:00 am. The agenda will include a business meeting, cookie swap, door prize drawing, and show and tell. After lunch (BYO), our speaker, Bettina Havig, will share a talk exploring the traditions of English, Welsh, and Irish quilts all of which are the predecessors of our American quilt traditions. This program is part travel log, part quilt show, and part personal exploration into the modern-day quilts of the UK and Ireland. No dust has settled on the vibrant quilt making there. Perhaps she can give you an appreciation of the roots of our quilt making along with a curiosity to delve deeper into what is happening across the pond.

Bettina Havig is a quiltmaker, teacher, lecturer, judge, and quilt historian. She is the author of eight books. Her work has been featured in American Patchwork and Quilting, Quilters’ Newsletter Magazine, Quilt, Lady’s Circle Patchwork, Traditional Quiltworks, Quilting Today, Sew Many Quilts, and Fons and Porter’s Love of Quilting. She was featured in both the British Patchwork and Quilting and the French Quilt Mania magazines. You will not want to miss this opportunity to hear her speak!
