Bethanne Nemesh has always been an artist, earning her BFA in 1995 from Longwood College in Virginia followed by a MS in Art Therapy from Eastern Virginia Medical School in 1997 where she met and married her husband of 23 years.
Upon starting their life together and moving to Pennsylvania she quickly became immersed in the area’s rich quilting history. After running a successful quilting for hire business for many years, Bethanne now focuses her time on creating fiber art and teaching others to love free motion machine quilting as much as she does, writing quilting books and articles, and creating unique quilting tools and rulers.
Bethanne’s portfolio as a show quilter and artist exemplifies her ‘art first’ approach. Her unique pictographic and silk whole cloth show quilts feature her love of nature and attention to detail in her unique beaded bindings, earning top awards in every major quilt show. In recent years, Bethanne has been a leader in using yarn couching as a form of fiber painting on quilts, garments, and home décor.
