Deb’s Cats N Quilts Designs
Designer for Creative Grids® Rulers
Online Group “Grids Girls”
Deb Heatherly has been quilting for more than 37 years ago and has worn many ‘quilting hats” during that time. From 1999-2004 Deb was a freelance writer and designer for QUILT magazine and its sister publications. One of the humorous articles that she wrote for the magazine, “All I know about Quilting I learned from my Cats,” eventually lead to the name of the shop that she opened in 2005 and to the name of her pattern design company- Deb’s Cats n Quilts Designs. Deb was honored to have the shop featured in the Fall/Winter 2016 issue of QUILT SAMPLER magazine but decided to sell the shop around the same time so that she could design full time for Creative Grids®.
The Creative Grids® Cat’s Cradle Tool, Strippy Stars Tool, Turbo 4 Patch Tool, The Ultimate Flying Geese Tool, and the Cat’s Cradle XL were all designed by Deb. She has 6 books on the market that companion these and other Creative Grids® specialty tools. In 2019 Deb also added fabric designer to her resume when she designed “Whiskers n Catnip” for Timeless Treasures and a BOM pattern to accompany the line. She has developed a program for shops called “Grids Girls” and an online Facebook group by the same name. The group has members from all across the world. Members can ask question and post pictures of their latest Creative Grids® project as well as participate in Deb’s very popular 8-week mystery quilts.
Deb is married and lives in the beautiful mountains of western NC. When not in the studio, Deb is on the road lecturing and teaching for guilds and shops across the country.
