Our goal for Maine Quilts 2025 is to ensure a positive experience. Keeping that in mind, we have jotted down a few things we hope will help us achieve our goal and get you to give Maine Quilts a big thumbs up!

  • The Augusta Civic Center is a large facility—very wide open for the most part. Some classrooms are totally enclosed, and many are partitioned into two or more spaces. Regulating temperatures from room to room or space to space is impossible. The AC is going full blast all week. Please wear layers and bring a jacket, sweater, or shawl to class for comfort.
  • The Augusta Civic Center does not allow food brought in from outside. Please do not ‘sneak’ your lunch in -if you are caught, you will be asked to leave the building.  One concession stand will be open during the day – located on the 2nd level. It is a small space. If you take a full-day class, you will have 2 hours between classes to eat, look at the quilts, and shop. To save you time and the aggravation of standing in a long line, we offer BOX LUNCHES again this year – they must be pre-ordered. There are links to these products on the website.
  • We strive to hire teachers who will teach workshops that interest you. This year, some workshops offer techniques you may have wanted to try but would have no idea what to bring to class. Those instructors will make kits specifically for you. The kit fee is payable to the instructor in cash during the workshop. Kit Fee information is displayed in bold letters on the workshop description and the supply sheets. The kit fee is non-negotiable.
  • If homework is assigned, please comply! Being prepared saves you time in the classroom. The instructor cannot wait for you to catch up; she is responsible for the entire class.
  • A word about irons in the classroom. Did you know your household or sewing room iron draws 1600-1800 watts? Any appliance that draws heat also draws a lot of power! The Augusta Civic Center cannot handle so many irons going simultaneously! It will trip the circuit breakers, and we will be without power! In past years, we have supplied each classroom with at least one iron, sometimes two, but sharing it with 20 students creates a lot of tension. We have found a solution. Please refer to the photo.  These are the ONLY irons we will allow in classrooms on the 2nd level.  Maine Quilts will supply a few to the classrooms, but we don’t have enough for everyone. If you have one, you may bring it – also bring an ironing pad. We will distribute these to classrooms as needed. THANK YOU to our generous sponsor Keepsakes Quilts for donating these irons to Maine Quilts!
  • Please be respectful of the teacher and others. Do not wear perfume or scented hairspray, and please turn off your cell phones during class.
  • And don’t forget! Have fun and make new friends! If you have suggestions for future workshops or teachers, please let us know!
