Every year, QuiltCon has a charity challenge. QuiltCon selects a palette of colors and a theme. The theme for 2019 was small piecing. Members used a variety of fabrics including Batiks, modern fabrics and fabrics from their stash to create the quilt design and titled the quilt “Striation Elation”. It was beautifully quilted by member Betsy Cannan. It hung with many other challege quilts in Nashville, TN, during the February show. Once the quilt is returned from QuiltCon, each guild donates it to a charity of their choice. Maine Modern Quilters is donating their quilt to the ALS Society in honor of member Kate Gawler’s sister’s ALS Journey.
