Let’s bring them out into the light for the September Members’ Meeting. Bring your favorite redwork quilt\, table runner\, or other item and share its story with the rest of us. SUMMARY:2019 “Charity Quilt Block” Challenge
DESCRIPTION:Calling All PTQG Members! \n All blocks will be made for the Quilts of Valor Foundation \nIt is my wish that every PTQG member will make at least ONE quilt block to go towards a quilt of comfort for those who fought for our freedom. \nHow do you play? It’s so simple! \n1. You can enter either as a chapter or as an individual. \n2. We are looking for 12 ½” unfinished quilt blocks made with ¼” seam allowance. These can be made in any technique\, but remember most of these blocks made into quilts will probably get a lot of use.   \n3. Use only patriotic fabrics/prints in red\, white and blue. Tone on tone fabrics in R\, W & B are also permitted. \n4.  Please do NOT use flannel\, glitter\, homespun or muslin fabrics for the blocks and always\, please use good quality 100% cotton fabric with no embellishments. No cream\, please! Any blocks made by not following the challenge guidelines will NOT be counted in the contest and will not be returned. \n5. Each block submitted will need to have your name\, chapter and phone number pinned on each block (mailing address labels are fine). You will still need to do this for those sending in as a chapter for the favorite block drawing. For those sending in as a chapter\, I will need the chapter name and contact. \n6. The blocks must be in my hands no later than Saturday\, November 19\, 2019. \nSo\, what in it for you and/or your chapter? \nBetter Prizes for 2018! \nFor each block mailed into me\, you or your chapter will get one ticket into the drawing. DESCRIPTION:The evening will begin with a buffet of sandwiches\, salads\, beverages and desserts. The vendor for the evening will be Half Square Quilt Shop. And of course there will be door prizes. \nOur speaker for the evening will be Susan Rooney\, from Fairport\, NY\, who designs fabrics and patterns. I believe she may have patterns and products available after the presentation. \nThe program including a trunk show is “The Process of Designing Fabric & Patterns”. Her designing interests include fabric\, patterns and machine embroidery. “Susan will share her inspirations\, the experience of designing for manufacturers and the benefits of self publishing patterns in house. She has a degree in graphic designs and experience in the licensing art and design industry for over 25 years.” She writes\, “Susan Rooney Patterns is about creating innovative design concepts for quilting and sewing. Our signature wave edges and 3D elements add extra interest and texture to our diverse selection of patterns and projects for various ages and skill levels.”   \nWe are asking for non-perishable food donations which will be given to the Biddeford Food Pantry. There will be a special raffle for those bringing donations.
