DESCRIPTION:10:00:  Business Meeting \n12:30 (roughly) – Guest Speaker  (Laurie Lebar)  – Curator at the Maine State Museum for past 23 years.  She curated nationally recognized exhibits\, authored and co-authored many papers and books\, expertly cared for Maine’s cultural heritage\, and traveled across the state as a lecturer. One of Laurie’s finalprojects at the museum was setting up an exhibition at the museum based on her book\, “Maine Quilts: 250 Years of Comfort and Community”. The exhibit is slated to open when the museum reopens in late 2025. \nOur speaker\, Laurie LaBar\, will share some of her stories and beautiful images of historical Maine-made quilts. Her book\, Maine Quilts: 250 Years of Comfort and Community\, marks the first published study of Maine-made quilts.

DESCRIPTION:Speaker : Linda Throckmorton – After moving to Cutler\, Maine in 1975\, I had to redirect my competitive spirit. I learned to quilt using sewing skills I’d had for 32 years. My teachers were 2 women\, with whom we were founders of PTQG at the 1977 quilt show. Besides building and running Gingham\, my fabric shop\, I entered every block contest I found. DESCRIPTION:The January Members’ Meeting will be held at Hope Church\, 728 Western Avenue\, Manchester\, Maine\, beginning at 10 a.m. with the business meeting\, show and tell\, and lunch\, followed by the speaker\, Brooke Biette of Dust and Waves Textiles. \nBrooke is a Maine native who moved west\, landing in Arizona for a few years\, and is now back in Maine. She has 30 years of quilting experience and 5 years of self-taught ice and snow dyeing of fabric. Brooke will talk a bit about her dyeing process\, how and why she got started\, how she mixes dyed fabrics with contemporary and vintage fabrics in her projects\, where her project inspiration comes from\, and more. She has a few quilts that she will bring and a bunch of fabric examples. \nYou can check out her website at www.dustandwaves.com. \nWe will also be voting on the budgets for PTQG and for Maine Quilts at this meeting—you can find those documents on pages 11-15 of December issue of Patchwork Press. \nSpecial Events at the January Members’ Meeting  \nHave you ever made a Red\, White\, and Blue quilt? Do you have a special shirt with Stars and Stripes that you wear for the Fourth of July? How about a headband with sparklers? I bet you have something patriotic.
