DESCRIPTION:The January Members’ Meeting will be held at Hope Church\, 728 Western Avenue\, Manchester\, Maine\, beginning at 10 a.m. with the business meeting\, show and tell\, and lunch\, followed by the speaker\, Brooke Biette of Dust and Waves Textiles. \nBrooke is a Maine native who moved west\, landing in Arizona for a few years\, and is now back in Maine. She has 30 years of quilting experience and 5 years of self-taught ice and snow dyeing of fabric. Brooke will talk a bit about her dyeing process\, how and why she got started\, how she mixes dyed fabrics with contemporary and vintage fabrics in her projects\, where her project inspiration comes from\, and more. She has a few quilts that she will bring and a bunch of fabric examples. \nYou can check out her website at www.dustandwaves.com. \nWe will also be voting on the budgets for PTQG and for Maine Quilts at this meeting—you can find those documents on pages 11-15 of December issue of Patchwork Press. \nSpecial Events at the January Members’ Meeting  \nHave you ever made a Red\, White\, and Blue quilt? Do you have a special shirt with Stars and Stripes that you wear for the Fourth of July? How about a headband with sparklers? I bet you have something patriotic. SUMMARY:2019 “Charity Quilt Block” Challenge
DESCRIPTION:Calling All PTQG Members! \n All blocks will be made for the Quilts of Valor Foundation \nIt is my wish that every PTQG member will make at least ONE quilt block to go towards a quilt of comfort for those who fought for our freedom. \nHow do you play? It’s so simple! \n1. You can enter either as a chapter or as an individual. \n2. We are looking for 12 ½” unfinished quilt blocks made with ¼” seam allowance. These can be made in any technique\, but remember most of these blocks made into quilts will probably get a lot of use.   \n3. Use only patriotic fabrics/prints in red\, white and blue. Tone on tone fabrics in R\, W & B are also permitted. \n4.  Please do NOT use flannel\, glitter\, homespun or muslin fabrics for the blocks and always\, please use good quality 100% cotton fabric with no embellishments. No cream\, please! Any blocks made by not following the challenge guidelines will NOT be counted in the contest and will not be returned. \n5. Each block submitted will need to have your name\, chapter and phone number pinned on each block (mailing address labels are fine). You will still need to do this for those sending in as a chapter for the favorite block drawing. For those sending in as a chapter\, I will need the chapter name and contact. \n6. The blocks must be in my hands no later than Saturday\, November 19\, 2019. \nSo\, what in it for you and/or your chapter? \nBetter Prizes for 2018! \nFor each block mailed into me\, you or your chapter will get one ticket into the drawing.
