April Members’ Meeting and Workshop News – April 26 – 28, 2019
Beth Ferrier of Applewood Farm Publications from Wisconsin will be joining us April 26, 27 and 28, 2019. A quilter since 1975, and a needle worker, Beth has had a lifelong love affair with needle and thread. An inability to follow instructions coupled with a talent for giving directions led to the birth of Applewood Farm Publications, Inc., Beth’s publishing company. They have published four books, including Hand Applique by Machine, and dozens of patterns are for sale in quilt shops around the world. A teacher by nature, it was only a matter of time before quilting classes began. “It’s important to me that every student come away from my class eager for the next challenge”. A class with Beth is always great fun!
She has appeared on HGTV’s Simply Quilts with Ricky Tims and Alex Anderson. She has been nominated for the Professional Quilter’s Teacher of the year award twice. She will be offering two classes for us and give a lecture and trunk show for our April meeting at Thomas College in Waterville.
Friday, April 26 Beth is offering “Forget me Nots”, hand applique by machine. Learn how to imitate the look of fine hand applique with your sewing machine. “My nifty-deluxe applique technique will take you from novice to applique goddess in one class.” This workshop will be held at Lisa’s White Flour Catering/ Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine, Augusta. Saturday, April 27 Beth is entertaining us with a lecture and trunk show “Will you make me a quilt?” Quilters are a funny lot, with our own special vocabulary and odd habits when it comes to buying fabric. Beth’s humorous look at what it means to be a quilter will have you in stitches. Presented after lunch around 12:30 p.m.
Sunday, April 28 Beth is offering “Easy Peasy Sneaky Tricks”. Don’t let it fool you! This little 24-inch quilt is jam-packed with tricks, tips and techniques. “Everything’s easier when you know the tricks. Let me show you how my favorite tricks will improve your piecing, saving time and effort in the process.” For everyone. This workshop will be held at Dysart’s, 1110 Broadway, Bangor.
